Shakespeare Cliff Walk

Ride on the iconic Whitianga Ferry, one of New Zealand’s oldest continuously operating ferries, running regularly across the sheltered harbour, this short but scenic trip takes just a few minutes and offers a wonderful perspective of the town and waterfront. It’s a charming way to cross to Ferry Landing, the historic site of the original European settlement in the area.

Once you arrive at Ferry Landing, follow the path up past Front Beach and Flaxmill Bay to Shakespeare Cliff, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of Mercury Bay. Allow at least an hour for the return walk, plus extra time to enjoy the views from the top.

On your way back, stop in for a coffee and a bite to eat at Eggcentric Cafe. Known for its relaxed, Coromandel vibe and Sam’s famous sourdough.
